“This song is old, relatively speaking. I remember the first line, ‘planes take off a million times a day, as I stare at the sky' popped into my head as I was heading into my apartment in East Providence as a plane flew overhead. It was 1998, and Justin and I had just begun writing songs. I went upstairs and wrote the original lyrics in my journal. I'm not sure what it was supposed to be about initially, but it turned into a song of longing for a person when all you've got is an item they've left behind.” – Kristen

Planes take off a million times a day
As I stare at the sky up above
Watching them rise
And I’m thinking of your goodbye
In your raincoat

Did you hear the pawnshop on the corner shut down?
It’s on the news – but do you even care?
I picture you somewhere
In your raincoat

I made a promise yesterday
Of where I’d be today
But here I am

I know you’re out there ever searching for the sun
My mind has made a hero out of you
I’m thinking of what I should do
With your raincoat

I made a promise yesterday
Of where I’d be today
But here I am

Planes take off a million times a day
As I stare at the sky
But I never see them land
And I picture you somewhere
In your raincoat
